Information System-Software


Today we will define the difference between general purpose application software and function-specific application software

General purpose application software
General purpose application software is application that provide general tasks for end users. Example: Spreadsheet, word processing, media player and etc.
Spreadsheet
Spreadsheet is a table contain of rows and columns. The relationships between cells are called formulas and the name of the cell call labels. U can key in words and figure that u want to. Mainly end user uses it to make a table or a price list.


Word processing
A general computer will have a word processing program called word processor. There is a program which u can insert word and delete text. There are also have function of cut/copy and paste, adjust the size and margins of the words, print and etc. It also can save as a electronically document and transfer as a soft copy. It also can connect to a printer can print out as hardcopy.
Function-Specific Application Software
Function-Specific Application Software have function to limited end user but their can perform more professional to specific user. Function-Specific Application Software has lesser purpose but it has greater capabilities.
Business application software must choose based on the business type or category itself. A computer must have the requirements necessary in order to run the software properly. Normally, business application software used to save down the sale or customer information and also the purchases and supplier information. It can be more convenient for accountant for doing the final year-end report (Income statement).
